A really early start in Red Rock and after 12 hours we made it to Subury by way of Schreiber, Wawa, Sault Saint Marie and lots of road construction.

Day 3 – August 22
Today we drove from Falcon Lake through Kenora and Thunder Bay to a lovely spot called Red Rock on the western side of Lake Superior. It was a very long day as we had not counted on the road construction and 90 km/hour speed limit in Ontario.
Day 2 – August 21
After spending the night in Moose Jaw, we drove to Falcon Lake, Manitoba by way of Regina, Fort Qu’Appelle, Brandon and Winnipeg.
My dad used to say that the Qu’Appelle Valley was one of the prettiest places on earth and I agree. Driving along the mostly flat plains covered by grain fields and combines hard at work we drove over a small rise and down into a lush valley along the river.
Brandon is home to one of the finest bakeries I have had the pleasure of visiting. We shared a chocolate and strawberry croissant and a pair of pains aux chocolates that Mary said kept her awake all night. Exquisite!
Drove as fast as we could around Winnipeg and spent our first camping night at Falcon Lake
Day 1 – August 20
We’re leaving Calgary and hope to make it as far as Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan.
Well, we had a late start and only made it to Moose Jaw. Will have to try harder tomorrow. At Red Cliff we drove right by 50,000 solar panels in a project that supplies 3,000 homes with power. Beautiful day but very windy.
Newfoundland – 2019
After an exhilarating trip north last year, we decided to travel to the east coast of Canada and lots of point in between. Should be quite the adventure.
